Cloudbase Foundation

Director / builder

Two men crouch on a grassy launch site beside a spread-out yellow paraglider wing, with packed gear around them, a group of people watching from a covered shelter behind, and a hazy mountain valley beyond.

Cloudbase Foundation began as a way for pilots to give back to communities near free flight sites around the world. When I joined in 2024, it was clear the nonprofit was in a state of decline: process and technology debt, coupled with a lack of vision for where the organization was going. I took over as Director in early 2026 and set out to build an engaged board, make investments in tech modernization, and prepare to grow, while mapping out a plan to make it happen.

My work with Cloudbase is illustrative of how I manage and lead — by finding the right people, getting aligned on purpose and direction, and then getting our hands dirty. Cloudbase is still in the stabilization period, but we are very close to the next phase: engaging with existing and potential donors, and bringing more visibility to our mission.

“Jonathan is one of those unique people who are so good at listening and observing, that he builds consensus without you even noticing. With Cloudbase, he managed to inspire volunteer action, educate the board on how to be a better board, all whilst not losing sight of the mission, vision and altruistic goals of the organization.”
